The Camarillo Mountain Fire, which began on November 6, 2024, has had a significant impact on Ventura County.

  • Area Affected: The fire has burned approximately 20,630 acres.
  • Structures Impacted:
    • 243 structures destroyed.
    • 127 structures damaged.
  • Injuries: Six confirmed injuries, including five civilians and one firefighter.
  • Evacuations: Over 10,000 residents were evacuated due to the fire’s rapid spread.
  • Containment: As of November 16, 2024, the fire was 93% contained.
  • Agricultural Impact: Approximately 12,000 acres of farmland were affected, damaging avocado, citrus, and berry crops.

The fire’s rapid progression was fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, with gusts reaching up to 100 mph, and low humidity levels. These conditions posed significant challenges to firefighting efforts and contributed to the extensive damage observed.
