Breakfast with Santa: A Huge Success!

What a magical morning! Families gathered after morning Masses for our annual Breakfast with Santa, hosted by the Knights of Columbus.

A full breakfast buffet, featuring handmade waffles and Santa cookies, brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Families also enjoyed taking photos with Santa, creating cherished holiday memories.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event so special. We’re already looking forward to next year’s celebration!

The Knights of Columbus are mobilizing to aid those affected by the devastating Camarillo Mountain fire. Families in our community have lost their homes, belongings, and sense of security. They need our help now more than ever.

100% of your donations will go toward purchasing Walmart and Target gift cards, which will be distributed directly to those in need. These gift cards will allow the victims to buy essential items like food, clothing, and household supplies as they begin to rebuild their lives.

The Camarillo Mountain Fire, which began on November 6, 2024, has had a significant impact on Ventura County.

• Area Affected: The fire has burned approximately 20,630 acres.
• Structures Impacted:
  • 243 structures destroyed.
  • 127 structures damaged.
• Injuries: Six confirmed injuries, including five civilians and one firefighter.
• Evacuations: Over 10,000 residents were evacuated due to the fire’s rapid spread.
• Containment: As of November 16, 2024, the fire was 93% contained.
• Agricultural Impact: Approximately 12,000 acres of farmland were affected, damaging avocado, citrus, and berry crops.

The fire’s rapid progression was fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, with gusts reaching up to 100 mph, and low humidity levels. These conditions posed significant challenges to firefighting efforts and contributed to the extensive damage observed.

The Westlake Village Knights of Columbus recently donated a much-needed ice maker to St. Jude the Apostle Church.

This will enhance the church’s ability to serve its parishioners and community during events. This thoughtful contribution came just in time, as the parish had been relying on an outdated ice machine that struggled to meet the growing demands of the church’s social and fundraising activities.

The new ice maker will be a valuable asset for the parish’s numerous events, including community dinners, receptions, and other gatherings hosted at the church. Providing cold beverages and proper food storage has always been a key part of ensuring these events run smoothly, and the donation directly supports that mission.

The Westlake Village Knights of Columbus, a Catholic charitable organization known for its ongoing community service, continue to demonstrate their commitment to supporting the needs of local parishes and organizations. From fundraising to direct donations, the Knights are dedicated to living out their faith through acts of service.

This latest gift is just one example of how the Knights of Columbus strive to strengthen and support their local community, helping St. Jude’s carry out its mission of fellowship and service.

The Westlake Village Knights of Columbus recently made a generous contribution to support local healthcare. On behalf of the organization, they donated $500 to Sr. Margarita Rico, RN, the Executive Director of Mary Health of the Sick, a non-profit skilled nursing facility located in Newbury Park, California.

Mary Health of the Sick, which is operated by the Sisters Servants of Mary, provides compassionate care for elderly and infirm individuals, many of whom are in need of long-term medical attention. The facility is known for its commitment to offering high-quality care to those who may not have the means to afford it, ensuring that each patient is treated with dignity and respect.

The Westlake Village Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization, are well-known for their charitable work and commitment to aiding those in need.

This donation will help further Mary Health of the Sick’s mission to provide compassionate care to the most vulnerable members of the community.

The Nun Run for the Sisters of Notre Dame is an annual event aimed at supporting their religious community and their charitable endeavors. Participants, including both runners and supporters, come together to raise awareness and funds for the Sisters of Notre Dame’s various missions and projects.

The Gold Coast Veterans Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering veterans in the Ventura County area. The foundation has been actively involved in addressing the unique challenges faced by veterans, including homelessness, healthcare, employment, education, and overall well-being.

Key Initiatives:

1. Veteran Support Programs: The foundation provides a range of programs and services designed to meet the diverse needs of veterans. This may include mental health support, job placement assistance, housing solutions, and more.
2. Community Outreach: The Gold Coast Veterans Foundation actively engages with the local community to raise awareness about veterans’ issues. Through outreach events, educational programs, and partnerships with other organizations, they work to foster a supportive and understanding community.
3. Fundraising and Donations: To sustain their efforts, the foundation conducts fundraising campaigns and seeks donations from individuals, businesses, and other organizations. These funds are used to finance various programs and initiatives that directly benefit veterans.

A $500 Cash Donation to the Adopt A Family ministry for the 2023 Christmas season was presented by our Knight Skip Hartman last Sunday.  Check out the video!

Today is “Giving Tuesday”

At last month’s Council Meeting, a resolution was passed to donate $1000 to our local homeless,

and to encourage brother Knights, families and our community to match this amount.

Our goal is to raise $2,000 for this Christmas season.

Any donation is welcomed and appreciated.
